Get them young, differently oriented, indoctrinate them and cause them to be existentially afraid of something or morally outraged. And you will have yourself some very committed zealots. Zealots who will without fully thinking out the potential consequences martyr themselves and surrender their freedom and possibly their lives for "their" cause.
It is a well proven radical psychological strategy of manipulation. Talk about grooming!
These two political "climate warriors" will probably receive years in jail and surrender their freedom for their actions and symbolic silliness. Actions and symbolic silliness that were more than likely assigned to them by someone older and wiser who runs them that they look up to. And that is how effective the radical Marxists within can be.

Idealistic and moralistic? That's a nice way of putting it. How about narcissistic and sanctimonious? But what do you expect when you tell young people that they are all so special, smart, talented, etc., even when they've done nothing to warrant such praise.
There's a lot to be said for some humility.
